WELCOME

In the spirit of enriching our immediate communities and by extension building a better South Africa in which any person has a significant chance of thriving through opportunities, Sh9keit is formed to enhance the collaboration between different leaders and enable project based success, networking and sharing of valuable information and resources among the Shakers and various communities.

Sh9keit is created by young people for young people. Its focus group is school learners from grade 9 to grade 12 and young people from the community.

OUR HISTORY

Sh9keit was founded by four great friends who saw the need to come together and create a platform that will be for the youth. Having solution based discussions and implementing these solutions. We are going to exist in all 9 provinces of South Africa.

MISSION

Is to create platforms that will foster youth development, and asset based community development. Molding and producing future young leaders that possess accountability, reliability and integrity attributes. Building better local communities leading to a better South Africa.

OUR PROGRAMS

Girls 4 Girls(g4g)

The initiative aims to empower girls by teaching them to unlearn toxic traits that oppress them. It aims to help girls get into STEM, provide sanitary towels, and other feminine assistance. Boys will also be included to educate them on how to behave, eliminate women abuse, and promote emotionally stable men.

Sh9keit Dialogue (The Panel)

This is a platform created by the Shakers to bring youth of different backgrounds together for engaging in dialogue, sharing ideas, and leading talks and debates on various topics to solve issues faced by communities. The format of the discussions will depend on the relevance and needs of the community or topic.

Project Support

All Shakers have different expertise in community development projects. Leveraging each Shaker's skill set and collaborating can benefit the team or individual. Project support includes helping launch initiatives and providing project planning, implementation, and evaluation support. Volunteers are available to organizations with a similar mission.

Time to man up campaign

GBV is increasing in communities and it is crucial to prevent it by teaching young boys better ways of treating women. They learn these behaviors from their environment and may adopt them as a way of life. It is time to take action and teach them before the wrong behavior becomes ingrained.

Emerging Shakers

The Emerging Shakers program aims to groom young leaders from grade 12 by connecting them with role models who can help them develop their skills. The initiative seeks to invest in individuals who have the potential to be leaders and connect them with organizations in higher learning institutions. The program monitors the progress of these individuals as they grow and encourages them to become role models for the next generation of Emerging Shakers.

Career Guidance

Sh9keit is working with stakeholders to provide learners in grades 9-12 opportunities to attend career exhibitions and job shadowing to discover their talents and specific career choices. The program aims to help learners avoid studying something that will not bring them happiness by exposing them to different career paths.
