SH9KEIT NPC
OUR HISTORY
Sh9keit was founded by four great friends who saw the need to come together and create a platform that will be for the youth. Having solution based discussions and implementing these solutions. We are going to exist in all 9 provinces of South Africa.
MISSION
Is to create platforms that will foster youth development, and asset based community development. Molding and producing future young leaders that possess accountability, reliability and integrity attributes. Building better local communities leading to a better South Africa.
OUR PROGRAMS
GIRLS FOR GIRLS (G4G)
Empowerment of young girls, teaching them to unlearn the toxic traits that keep them oppressed by the system (created by men). Seeks to assist girls get into the STEM field. Sanitary towel drives and assistance with other feminine stuff. Though it’s about girls, boys will also be included to teach them about how to behave in hopes of eradicating women abuse and give rise to men that are emotionally woke and stable.
Sh9keit Dialogue (The Panel)
This is an arena where the Shakers will bring together people of different calibers and facilitate an enabling environment of sharing ideas, leading talks on various topics, and debates about the issues facing our communities thereby enabling active problem solving and collective solution building. The dialogues will take many forms depending on what the team deems relevant at the time and on what the needs are for that particular community or aspect.
Time to Man-Up Campaign
GBV increases daily in our communities. We need to curb tendencies of GBV in young boys before they even start lifting their hands on a woman. They learn these behaviors at home, in the community, on social media and they adopt this as a way of life and how women perhaps should be treated. It is Time to Man-Up. We need to teach young boys better ways than those they have already conceived in their mind-sets. There is a proverb that says, "strike while the iron is still hot" and that is what we need to do here.
Emerging Shakers
Leadership is a skill that can be passed down from generations as long as the upcoming generation has the heart and passion for it. Emerging Shakers is a program that seeks to groom the leader most especially from grade 12. This initiative will entail discovering more value in our communities by grooming a pool of young emerging leaders. The young leader would be attached a role model that would assist them learn and grow skills in certain areas. Some people are naturally born leaders and many of them are within our communities thus it is worth investing resources and effort in ensuring that these people are enabled to realize their full potential. Since these leaners are going to varsities, they need to keep in line with their leadership genes. Sh9keit will connect these students with other organizations that exists in the institution of higher learning. Monitor these Emerging Shakers as they grow into fully flashed Shakers. These individuals are then expected to come back into Sh9keit and become Shakers to another generation of Emerging Shakers.
Project Support
All the Shakers are primarily involved in various community development projects and have different expertise in many areas within the field. Therefore, it is only logical that the unique skill sets that each Shaker hold are leveraged and ways of collaborating are identified to enable benefit for the team or any individual. Project Support will include, among other things, assisting each other in the launch of initiates in our respective communities, and also providing project planning, implementation and evaluation support to each other. Our volunteers will be available to organizations that are on the same path with our mission.
Career Guidance
Sh9keit will be working with various stake holders to provide learners in grade 9 - grade 12 the chance to attend career exhibitions and in the long run Sh9keit will hold its own career exhibitions. This program aims to expose learners to their specific career choices through job shadowing. Children mostly choose somethings that they know nothing about, some don’t even know their skills and talents and that is what this program will provide. A platform for these learners to discover their talents before they go to university and study something that will not bring them happiness.
